Davitt College present That ‘80s Show!

A spellbinding story that captivates audiences, making them laugh and cry, That ‘80s Show, the musical, will be performed by Davitt College transition year students this year from Tuesday March 5 until Friday March 8 at 8pm and promises to be one of the best productions of all time. That ‘80s Show, the musical, is the story of the graduating class of William Ocean High School as they live through their senior year and experience the fun, the heartbreak, the loves and loneliness of growing up... all set to the biggest hits of the ‘80 s, including “Wake Me Up Before You Go Go”, “Kids In America”, “Girls Just Want To Have Fun”, “Footloose”, “Video Killed The Radio Star”, “You Give Love A Bad Name”, “Man In The Mirror”, “Love Shack”, “Dancing On The Ceiling” and many more, this show promises not to disappoint.

Set in the era of the Rubik's cube, Max Headroom and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, That ‘80s Show presents a world when actors became American presidents, when bubble skirts were cool, when Atari was cutting edge technology and when mobile phones were as big as bricks. Throw in a Star Wars dream sequence, high-energy dance routines, the obligatory ‘80s party scene, copious amounts of blue eye-shadow, 20 cans of hairspray, and you have a musical that will delight and amuse audiences of any age.

All the transition year students are involved in the production, whether on stage or backstage, and a large number of the students have lead roles, The show is produced by Eamonn Mulderrig (music teacher at Davitt College ), choreography by Aine Egan (DanceWorld Ballina ), directors are English teacher Veronica Morley and geography teacher Kevin Donlon, and live music is by John Flatley. Tickets are on sale from the Davitt College reception at 094 9023060.
