The One Million Trees in One Day team is delighted to announce the planting date for the project and the launch of the One Million Trees in One Day Local Business Supporters’ Scheme.
Planting will start at 12 noon on Friday, March 22 and finish at 12 noon on Saturday, March 23 2013. This 24 hour window is designed to allow all volunteers and team members to juggle work commitments and to ensure that everyone gets a chance to join in with the planting.
One Million Trees in One Day is a charity, not-for-profit, cross-border, community and environmental initiative which will plant a million young native trees at many different sites across both the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland in 24 hours during March. Its true aim however is to establish individual trees and woodlands in both rural and urban areas that will grow for many years and which will provide valuable resources, beneficial ecosystem services and a lasting legacy for future generations.
Trees are being accommodated at over 2,000 sites in schools and colleges, on farms, on state owned land, at community sites and on privately owned land and will be planted by professional tree planters aided by numbers of volunteers.

Businesses joining the scheme will be investing directly into trees at local community sites and at sites in the county in which they operate. In exchange for support from businesses, the group will offer local advertising, media coverage, on-line exposure and a wonderful brand alignment opportunity with this huge community and environmental initiative.
