All-new Mitsubishi Outlander SUV arrives

Mitsubishi Motors has just launched its all-new Outlander SUV range here in Ireland. The entry level model is the 2.2 litre diesel two-wheel drive five-seater version with a price tag of €34,950.

The arrival of the new Outlander will herald the start of a new generation of global products for Mitsubishi Motors, with a new 'global small' car, plus an all-new offering in the B-segment, arriving in Ireland in early 2013, followed by a plug-in hybrid version of the Outlander.

Back to the all-new Outlander and Mitsubishi points out that is more advanced, more spacious, more economical, and better equipped than previous generations, yet it is extremely fuel-efficient, delivering up to 58.9mpg, and Mitsubishi boasts of it having the lowest emissions in its class at 126 g/km, which results in current Band B Vehicle Registration Tax (VRT ) and road tax.

The new model is available in a five-seater two wheel drive or as a seven-seater four wheel drive with a manual transmission. The latter version carries a price-tag of €36,950. And Mitsubishi tells us that with CO2 emissions of 140 g/km, it also squeezes in to the current band B for VRT and road tax. It claims fuel economy of 52.3mpg.

There is also an automatic transmission option for the 4WD, seven-seater version. Despite falling in to band C for the current VRT (and road tax ), and as you would expect a little lower fuel economy at 48.7mpg, Mitsubishi has kept the price below €40k at €39,950.

Mitsubishi Motors boasts the all-new Outlander offers the best of all worlds – stunning design, incredible economy, and more than 40 safety, comfort, and styling features as standard.

The Outlander is a unique blend of standout styling, superb versatility, and immense economy. It can seat up to seven for the school run, or swallow a couple of mountain bikes whole, yet its footprint is smaller than that of most family estates.

The new generation Outlander follows a clear design brief where in true Mitsubishi fashion, key directions were for an “engineer’s car” that blends a substantial look with clean surfaces. Understated yet assertive, Outlander’s exterior design is further enhanced by a slim front aerodynamic grille with stylish chromed strips, framed by sculptured wrap-around headlamps.

This same uncluttered quality look continues inside with high grade materials gracing a dashboard designed for better driver concentration, including ergonomic steering wheel controls as well as high-resolution and easy-to-read instrument displays.
