Major Mayo tweet up for Connacht’s #SME community

If the people of Ireland are looking for a demonstration of positive growth, they do not have to look any further than the Twitter group #SMEcommunity.

In May 2011, a number of small business owners started adding #SMEcommunity to their tweets. The aim of the group is to provide advice and support to one another and other small business start-ups around the country.

The founders soon realised the potential of the group and identified the value of taking their efforts offline. Since its inception there have been a number of events around the country. In January 2012 #SMEcommunity held a 32 county event in Birr, Co Offaly.

Mayo based business woman Jenny Brennan (Virtual Office Worx ) has organised the latest #SMEcommunity tweet-up for Connacht based businesses on Wednesday, December 5. This is a free event and with the support of David Smyth and the McWilliam Park Hotel in Claremorris the day promises to be a great success.

The amount of advice, support, and business being generated within #SMEcommunity and its 2,651 followers has been extraordinary. The event is open to any existing SMEs or entrepreneurs who are in the process of developing their business. It is not a requirement to be a Twitter user, however you are guaranteed that by the end of this event you will see the value in using social media to network for your business.

The day will include inspirational speeches from Galway based motivational speaker Pearce Flannery of Pragmatica, European director of marketing Eimear McCormack (Mayo woman and prior marketing director of Justeat.ie and regular contributor to Today FM ) and local business owner Sarah Flood of Snap Printing, Castlebar.

Following the speakers attendees will have an opportunity to meet each other at a speed networking event. So bring plenty of business cards and positivity for what promises to be a great opportunity to network with other business owners.

The event will be held on Wednesday, December 5, in the McWilliam Park Hotel Claremorris, from 2pm to 6pm. Attendees are requested to pre-register at smecommunityconnaught.eventbrite.com/# which also includes the running order of the event.
