ELDR congress will hear about the west’s potential for renewable energy

Several hundred delegates of the European Liberal, Democratic and Reform group (ELDR ) are due to attend the ELDR annual congress in Dublin early in November.

Lisa Chambers, Mayo Fianna Fáil area representative, is chairperson of the party's European Affairs Committee which is assisting party headquarters in organising the congress.

Ms Chambers, who is also a vice-president of Fianna Fáil, said the party is looking forward to bringing this major event to Ireland, the theme of which is "A liberal roadmap for energy transmission in Europe".

One of the topics to be discussed will be renewable energy which, she says, is highly important for a country such as Ireland, and a fantastic platform to launch Irish renewable energy companies.

“I would hope that the congress will be of particular benefit to the west of Ireland, where the potential for renewable energy is greatest, and where we will have the capacity to become a major player,” she said.

Ms Chambers said that the congress itself will also be a major boost for Ireland with delegates from all over Europe travelling to attend the three day event.
