Householders can qualify to get their homes insulated for free

Recent changes to the Warmer Homes Scheme means more households should now qualify to have their homes insulated free of charge according to Sinn Féin Councillor Rose Conway-Walsh.

Cllr Conway-Walsh said: “Up to now only homeowners on fuel allowance living in a house 10 years or older could apply for attic insulation, cavity wall insulation, draught proofing, lagging jackets, and low energy light bulbs. Now homeowners in receipt of Jobseekers Allowance for over six months with a child under seven years of age, or homeowners on Family Income Supplement, can apply. The number to call is 1800 250 204. Applicants will be given a reference number and then will receive a written confirmation within a couple of weeks. They should keep this letter safely as it is their proof of application.”
