Titanic show a massive hit in Crossmolina Festival

A new Irish music, song and drama show about the Titanic was a massive hit, when it was staged during the Crossmolina Festival at Enniscoe House. It was standing room only at the sold out Heritage show by the newly formed Conners performance group for their production of the Titanic themed The Emigrants’ Farewell.

The show tells the fictional story of an American wake for four sisters from Lahardane on the night before their big journey on the Titanic. The troupe which takes its performers from the barony of Erris to the shores of Lough Conn, has been invited to represent Ireland in a trip to America in October 2012. They are staging a series of fund raising shows to promote the work of the group and to fund their trip to Boston and Pittsfield. Their schedule of events are as follows: Social and set dancing at Pontoon Bridge Hotel from 6pm to 8pm every Sunday throughout August. Connioras Country Kitchen Performance and traditional Irish session every Wednesday evening, from 8pm to 10pm at Enniscoe House, Crossmolina. A fundraising dance with the Ceide Boys will be held at the Broadhaven Hotel on August 9 at 10pm. The Emigrants Farewell will also be performed at Moygowanagh Community Centre on Saturday, August 11, the Westview Hotel, Louisburgh on Tuesday August 14, and the Castlecourt Hotel, Westport on August 21.
