Woman stole perfume, toys, and beauty cream from Mayo stores

A woman who went on a thieving spree in two pharmacies and a toy store in Claremorris was before Castlebar District Court this week.

On May 13 2011 at 1.30pm gardaí received a report from Flynn’s Pharmacy, Main Street, Claremorris, that €30 worth of perfume had been stolen. Roseanne Sweeney, 1 Oran Crescent, Oranhill, Oranmore, Co Galway, was identified from CCTV footage.

On the same day, O’Brien’s Pharmacy, The Square, Claremorris, had Clarins day cream, night cream, and eye cream stolen. The defendant’s car was captured on CCTV outside the pharmacy.

On December 6 2011, toys including a Barbie Dream House, a walker, a Disney laptop, and four games had been taken from the store. CCTV was viewed and again Sweeney was recognised on CCTV.

None of the property was ever recovered.

Sweeney has a number of previous convictions including a suspended sentence in Galway. Because of this, Judge Mary Devins remanded Sweeney on continuing bail to Galway District Court sitting on February 6.
