Office of Public Works to stay in Claremorris

Business in Claremorris got a shot in the arm this week with the news that 30 skilled staff employed by the OPW are to stay in the town.

The staff, who are based at the Lakeside Business Park, produce and print a wide range of government publications, including visitor guides for heritage sites, laws enacted by the Oireachtas, the Irish Constitution, and the books of tables used in public examinations.

Welcoming the news, Chamber of Commerce president Eugene Waldron said: “The OPW is worth €1.29m a year to the local economy in Claremorris. That's very important to business in our town. It's also a great relief to the staff and their families, who have strengthened the fabric of our community in the past four years. The Chamber will continue to campaign to attract more OPW staff to Claremorris.”
