Driving ban for man who blocked disabled bay

A 20-year-old man who blocked a disabled bay was convicted and fined €500 and disqualified from driving at Castlebar District Court this week.

The car of James Maughan, 7 The Oaks, Ashford Court, Headford, Galway, was observed by Garda Luke Gray to block a disabled bay near Mayo General Hospital. The defendant failed to move on when asked by the garda and Maughan did not pay a fixed charged penalty notice.

The married father of one, who has two previous road traffic convictions, was convicted and fined €500 by Judge Mary Devins and disqualified from driving for six months to run concurrently with a driving disqualification which has already been imposed on him in another court.
