Voter registration drive for Castlebar students

USI in conjunction with students union in GMIT, Castlebar, will be encouraging students to vote and allowing them the opportunity to get registered. This campaign will allow students to register their vote on campus in the presence of a local garda.

From 9am until 1pm on Monday you will have your chance to register.

With the potential election day set for a Friday the student union is looking for all students to get involved with how the country will be run in the future. With each political party offering suggestions on how best to reduce graduate unemployment and support students through their studies it is important to have the whole picture and how the party(ies ) in power will have an effect on your studies in the future and your ability to gain employment after you graduate.

The message is clear - when the election is called have your say.

“All the student movement wishes to convey is the sheer importance of every vote and that it should be used, find out what is being offered and vote accordingly,” said GMIT student president Alan Judge.

The student union is extending an invitation to all parties in the region to speak to the student body of the Castlebar campus during this voter drive campaign.
