Preston Reed

Regarded by many as one of the top contemporary guitarists in the world, the spectacular and extraordinary Preston Reed makes a welcome return to the Linenhall Arts Centre in Castlebar on Thursday November 18 at 8pm.

Preston Reed delivers a six and 12 string thrill-ride through the impossible and unforgettable in acoustic guitar music, as with blurred hands he taps, tickles, slaps and soothes his instrument, fusing polyrhythmic percussion with emotive melody to create a compelling sonic landscape. Yet this is not guitar wizardry for its own sake. Blues, rock, funk and jazz meet, embrace, interlock and attack to create a musical brew quite unlike anything you’ve heard before. Playing an array of guitars from acoustic to electric to classical, Reeds vast range of explosively original music will forever change your expectation of a guitarist.

The Linenhall Gallery is open to the general public Monday to Friday from 10am to 5pm; Saturday from 11am to 5.30pm. Admission to exhibitions is free. Further details from the Linenhall: 094 902 3733; www.thelinenhall.com
