Party-goer over the limit

An 18-year-old man who drove the morning after being at a party has been disqualified from driving for two years.

Ballina District Court heard that on September 4, gardaí were notified that a woman who was walking her dog at the entrance to Greenhills Estate at 8.05am, was nearly hit by a car which was being driven by Stephen Devaney, 7 Oakwood Drive, Ballina.

Gardaí located Devaney in his car and he was arrested for drink driving. A breath test provided gave a reading of 66mg of alcohol per 100ml of breath.

The PLC student, who had been at a party the night before, did not realise that he was still under the influence when he drove.
