Competition fund for entrepreneurs

A competition fund of €100,000 is being offered to winning entrepreneurs throughout Ireland working in the areas of business, arts, and social categories and Mayo people are now invited to enter.

“We’re looking for Mayo entrepreneurs who impress and excite us, with a passionate, can-do attitude and full of potential,” said Alfie Kane, chair of the panel of judges for the David Manley Emerging Entrepreneur awards. Nine shortlisted entrants will receive mentoring while the overall winner gets €10,000 in cash and mentoring and consultancy services from a variety of top companies. Category winners will receive €1,000 in cash.

Entrants can enter using multimedia options including video, audio clip, Power Point, or straightforward copy.

Closing date for this stage is August 31 and the entry form can be downloaded from www.davidmanleyawards.ie A shortlist of nine – three each from the business, arts, and social categories – will then be made and each of these will present to the judges - including Dr Chris Horn, vice-chair of the judging panel. The winner will be announced in January 2011.
