Successful branding of ‘The Royal’ is selling Castlebar worldwide

As it approaches its second birthday next month, the Royal Theatre and Events Centre in Castlebar continues to grow its brand pulling in big names from both the national and international stage. Everything from Riverdance to Disney productions, opera, rock, and pop draw punters in their thousands every week with comedy shows proving a particular hit, notably in corporate entertainment where having a laugh with colleagues makes for a real ice-breaker.

In this week’s Mayo Advertiser, ‘The Royal’ boss Pat Jennings, who isn’t remotely fazed about rubbing shoulders with the world’s rich and famous, shares his story of building up a best-selling entertainment venue. The secret to the success of ‘The Royal’, according to Mr Jennings, is that the business remains very much a family affair. Ably assisted by his wife Mary, the couple (parents to three grown up children forging their own professional paths in life ), have resolutely branded ‘The Royal’ as a national performance centre for the biggest names in showbusiness. Simultaneously, they are creating ongoing opportunities for the business sector of Mayo’s county town, to capitalise on the thousands of concert-goers and punters attending gigs each week. In effect, Castlebar has become synonymous with ‘The Royal’ and the scope to develop the brand further in tandem with selling the message of the west of Ireland presents a truly exciting business opportunity for those with eyes keen enough to spot it.

“It’s all about showbiz in a small town. It’s look west instead of look east”, explained Jennings.
