Woman ‘concerned about street cred’ did not display L plates

Judge Mary Devins said that a woman who had her L plates not clearly visible and whose number plates were in bold lettering was more concerned about her “street cred” than obeying the rules of the road.

At Belmullet District Court this week it was outlined that Ann Marie Reilly, Doolough, Geesala, was stopped by Garda Orla Gilmartin on November 5 2009 at 5.20pm.

The defendant’s L plates on the front were not visible as they were hidden behind a sun visor and the rear L plate was folded over and could hardly be seen. The number plates were also in heavy, non conforming, print.

Judge Devins convicted and fined Reilly, who has no previous convictions, a total of €150.
