Charity to research social participation of people with disabilities

Enable Ireland Disability Services is asking people with disabilities and parents of children with disabilities in Mayo to take part in an online survey investigating their experiences of taking part in social and leisure activities.

The survey will probe the barriers that people with disabilities may face when taking part in social and leisure activities, from joining a local youth group for a child to going to the local pub for an adult. These could include physical access barriers, lack of confidence or a shortage of personal assistance hours.

The survey is available online through www.enableireland.ie/actionweek and consists of just 10 questions. Results will be released in advance of Action Week on Disability, which will take place in September. During the week Enable Ireland will be asking people to take action on disability and buy an action badge or run an event in aid of Enable Ireland.
