Litter conviction for Ballina man

A 58-year-old man from Ballina who was found to have dumped litter in a laneway was convicted and fined at Ballina District Court on Tuesday after Ballina Town Council brought proceedings against him.

A number of items belonging to Christopher Langdon, 15 St Muredach’s Terrace, Ballina, were discovered by the town’s litter warden in a pile of rubbish in a laneway on February 2 of this year.

After being interviewed by the town clerk about the matter the defendant admitted that he dumped one bag in the laneway.

The unemployed man who has no previous convictions was convicted and fined €200 by Judge Mary Devins and ordered to pay €100 towards costs.
