€5 million ward investment in Sacred Heart Hospital

Some €5 million is being spent this year on the upgrading of facilities at Sacred Heart Hospital in Castlebar. The investment has been welcomed by local Fianna Fáil election candidate Michael Feeney.

“Some €4 million has been invested by the Health Service Executive in the refurbishment and upgrading of St Patrick’s ward in the Sacred Heart Hospital and the work has now been completed,” Mr Feeney said.

“A further €1 million has now been allocated to refurbish St Joseph’s ward, the rehabilitation ward. This work is now under way and will be completed in September.”

Mr Feeney welcomed the funding saying: “These allocations reflect the importance of the Sacred Heart Hospital to our town and community. My own family have had warm experiences of the care at the Sacred Heart Hospital. My late mother, who worked as a nurse there, was a resident of the hospital during her final years.

“I am delighted for the patients of the hospital and for the staff, whose dedication and care have made the Sacred Heart Hospital such a wonderful facility for the people of Mayo,” concluded Mr Feeney.
