Countdown is on to this year’s Valentine’s Candlelight Ball for Western Care

The countdown is on to this year’s Valentine’s Candlelight Ball, which takes place in Breaffy House Hotel on Saturday, February 16, in aid of Western Care Association.

One of the most popular social nights out in Mayo to celebrate Valentine’s, tickets are already selling fast. If you haven’t got your ticket to the hottest event in town, there are only a few days left before the event is a sell-out. Tickets can be purchased for €50 from Western Care Association, John Moore Road, Castlebar or from fundraising committee members.

This will be another night to be remembered with dozens of Mayo businesses having so generously donated fabulous prizes for the raffle, auction and house prizes.

Mayo’s football manager, James Horan, will be attending and had this to say: "The Valentine’s Candlelight Ball is always a great night out with neighbours, friends and loved ones. My wife Siobhan and I are really looking forward to this year’s event. Western Care Association is a fantastic local charity that deserves all of our support and funding from this event will benefit so many people from the four corners of Mayo."

As previously announced, FAI Chief Executive John Delaney, will be the guest speaker on the night.

Speaking ahead of this year’s ball, Chairman of the Castlebar Voluntary Fundraising Branch of Western Care Association, Dara Dunne, said: "I am so excited about this year’s ball which will follow on from the success of the last 18 years. We are indebted to all of the Mayo businesses who have donated absolutely brilliant prizes and there will be lots of enjoyment and fun on the night.

"I would encourage anyone who would like to attend but who hasn’t already purchased their ticket, to do so as soon as possible, as tickets for this year’s event are selling fast.”

This year’s ball will be televised for Sky TV and will be aired shortly afterwards on Henry McGlade’s popular magazine show iMayo TV on Sky 192. The show can be viewed every Thursday night at 7pm and is repeated on Saturday nights at 8pm.

Once again the event’s main sponsor is Brendan Chambers of Vodafone C&C Cellular, together with the other sponsors Abbey Breaffy Nursing Home and Corrib Oil and many businesses from across the county who donate prizes to the ball.

The 19th annual Western Care Valentine’s Candlelight Ball takes place in Breaffy House Resort on Saturday, February 16 at 7pm commencing with a champagne reception followed by a gala dinner, raffle, auction and lots of prizes. Tickets costing €50 are available from Western Care Head Office, John Moore Road, Castlebar; Teresa Ward, Development Officer, (087 ) 2467857; or from committee members.
