Statistics for county council services add up

Mayo County Council's annual report for 2017 has been adopted by the elected members following the October monthly meeting. The report carried a breakdown of the activities the council is engaged in, over a number of headings and represented by various statistics.

Below are some of the figures from the report

129: The number of freedom of information requests received by the council.

0: The number of complaints under protected disclosures given to the council.

600,000: The number of page visits to www.mayo.ie up from 400,000 the previous year.

16.9 million: The number of times the hashtag #mayoday was seen during Mayo day on social media.

360,000: The number of visits to libraries around the county in 2017.

300: The number of events held in libraries around the county during the year.

600,000: The number of books borrowed from libraries around the county.

€30,307,277: The amount collected in motor tax in the county, with €19,207,654 paid online and €11,099,623 paid in one of the three offices around the county.

9716: The number of pieces of advice given out by lifeguards on beaches around Mayo in 2017.

145: The number of dogs re-homed from the pound during the year.

16: The number of planning enforcement notices issued by the council.

1,166: The number of walk-in-planning clinics held around the county.
