‘Respect retail workers’ campaign no April’s fool

The level of abuse towards retail workers in Mayo has reached such a level that their union, Mandate, will launch a ‘respect retail workers’ campaign in the county.

The campaign will be launched on April Fool’s Day, but this is no joke to the thousands of retail workers in Mayo who have been affected.

Mandate trade union represents more than 50,000 workers in the retail sector including several thousand in Mayo in companies such as Dunne’s Stores, Tesco, and Penney’s.

The campaign will be launched on Wednesday April 1 in the TF Royal Hotel in Castlebar at 7.30pm.

The campaign was established due to a large increase in complaints from union members regarding verbal and physical abuse towards retail workers. Retail workers and union members will be present and will seek support from the public for the campaign.
