Fundraising campaign to fly Ballina man home

A GoFundMe campaign to raise money to fly home a Ballina man who was seriously injured in Budapest last weekend has raised more than €25,000.

Thirty-two-year old Michael Cuffe travelled to the Hungarian city last weekend with friends for a weekend away, but he was unfortunately struck by a bus in the city on Friday.

Michael's family have set up a GoFundMe page to pay for an air ambulance to transport him back to Ireland, as his injuries are so serious it is the only way to bring him back home.

Mr Cuffe suffered a number of serious injuries including broken bones in his neck and back, a broken collarbone, and a triple leg fracture. His parents flew to the Hungarian capital last weekend to be by his bedside.

Donations can be made to the fund at https://ie.gofundme.com/fly-michael-cuffe-home.
