Talented Galway musician to play at Kyteler’s

Kilkenny Advertiser, February 06, 2009.

Albert Niland is unquestionably one of Ireland ’s finest guitar talents.

Currently based in Ghent, Flanders, Niland brings to life a unique blend of various styles of intricate guitar playing, from flamenco to rock, and powerful vocals.

The Galway-born guitarist is now deservedly recognised as one of Ireland’s most gifted performers on the Irish music scene.

Niland sings from the soul, and plays guitar with an unforgiving passion. Best known for his soulful cover of Kate Bush’s Wuthering Heights, his originals have also secured radio play from the likes of BBC's Jools Holland.

Commanding the respect of the greats that went before him, Niland has been a special guest featuring in the two biggest reunions in the history of Irish music; Planxty in 2004, and Moving Hearts in 2007.

Since the release of his debut album Dirty Day in 2003, Albert Niland has received critical acclaim from every corner of the music industry. Described by musician and broadcaster Tom Dunne as ‘a major new talent’, Niland was recently invited to join Christy Moore at Vicar Street, for a special concert in aid of the Pakistan earthquake victims.

He will take to the stage on Monday, February 9 as part of his Irish tour and promotion for his new album, The Hungry Ghost. These live shows are not to be missed.
