Goods reaches finals of retail awards

Kilkenny Advertiser, October 21, 2011.

Goods of Kilkenny has made it through to the finals of the prestigious Best Shop Awards UK and Ireland 2011. The High Street retailer saw off competition from world renowned stores including Harrods and Harvey Nichols to be selected as a finalist for Best Department Store 2011.

Goods is one of only three stores in Ireland selected to compete for the award and is the only store in the southeast to make the final.

Following the nomination of its dedicated lingerie department Lingerie at Goods for the Best Shop Awards earlier this year, Goods and its staff have undergone rigorous judging by the awards team to secure its coveted place in the final. Lingerie at Goods was judged across several categories including customer service, product knowledge, and customer loyalty. A visit from the awards’ feared mystery shopper team, who rated the store’s staff and facilities highly, was instrumental in the Kilkenny retailer reaching the final ahead of much bigger Irish and UK stores.

“To receive the nomination as Best Department Store earlier this year was wonderful in itself. To reach the final has surpassed all our expectations. We always prided ourselves on providing a service to customers and a choice in product range which was up there with the best of them, and our place in the Best Shop Awards final now confirms this. For a Kilkenny business to be selected as a finalist ahead of world famous stores like Harrods, Harvey Nichols, and Arnotts, is testament to the exceptional expertise and friendly service of Mary Massey, our lingerie manager, and her fantastic team in Lingerie at Goods,” said Phil Walsh, chief executive, Goods.

The Best Shop Awards 2011 will be presented at a star studded ceremony in Marble Arch, London, on November 10.
