Local soccer tournament to support MPS charity
A seven-a-side soccer tournament will take place tomorrow (Saturday), in the Watershed facility, in aid of a very worthy cause.
Cezy Maria Focsa, who is going into Senior Infants in St Canice’s national school this year, has a rare disease known as MPS IV. She is one of only four people in Ireland with this disease, which affects just one child in every 700,000 born.
Her parents have organised this tournament to give back to the charity organisation that has given so much help to the family.
Anyone wishing to take part can register for the event on the day at 10am. The first match kicks off at 10.30am.
As well as a trophy for the tournament’s overall winners, there will be a number of prizes given out on the day, including a prize for best goalkeeper and best goal scorer. Complimentary drinks and sandwiches will be provided on the day for all participants.
To take part and support this worthy cause, simply show up on the morning. Entry to the tournament is €10 per player, but all donations are welcome. All proceeds from the event will go directly to the Irish MPS Society.
Alternatively, anyone wishing to pre-register a team can contact Costel Focsa on 086 0665388. There are already over 20 teams registered, and the tournament looks set to be a real mini World Cup, with teams from Ireland, Poland, Romania, and elsewhere all taking part.
