Thomas Shelley, Chatsworth Gallery, Castlecomer, Kilkenny began painting in 1938 and attended the College Of Art, Dublin where he studied under Sean O’ Sullivan.
Shelley moved to Highgate, North London in 1942 with a senior position within Aer Lingus and remained there until 1989. He then moved back to Ireland and opened his own art gallery, ‘The Chatsworth Gallery,’ in Castlecomer, County Kilkenny.
Shelley exhibited widely in London and in the home counties, holding one-man exhibitions in 17 different galleries, along with several mixed shows.
Shelley’s work features mostly paints in oil but he is also comfortable with pastels and watercolours. He specialises in landscapes and is primarily a figurative painter.
Shelley follows his own style and is not influenced by any movement or genre.
Despite very little recent advertisement or promotion his work has a good following and has sold world wide.
