However, Jamie is very anxious to get back to school as she misses her friends.
“My best friends are Ashling Byrne, Sarah Canning and Abbey Bolger. They come and visit me here at home.”
Jamie has a home tutor at the moment who comes every day to keep her up to date with her school work. She also recently took part in the school sports day and will take part in the upcoming Christmas play.
“The school is brilliant - they always include Jamie even though she isn’t there every day,” said Jamie’s Dad, Peter.
Jamie has a very busy schedule for coming weeks with eye check ups and dental appointments to add to her upcoming return trip to London on December 7, where she will undergo tests to analyse her progress.
“We can come and go to London on the one day and although it is a long day, it cuts out hotel expenses. Jamie also wants to be back in time for her school play which is on the next day,” said Emer.
Jamie’s Nanny, Mary, is instrumental in her care along with her aunty Triona who has been with her every step of the way throughout the Murphys fight for her life-saving operation.
“We are going to have a fantastic Christmas this year - but things could have been so different,” Mary said. “ We are lucky we have her here and she is so well - we couldn’t ask for more.”
Jamie’s health has vastly improved since the surgery and she has put on lots of weight. She is wearing clothes for her own age group and she is eating like any other young girl. Her breathing has vastly improved as her spine is no longer crushing her lungs and other organs.
“”I feel great now and I’m delighted with my operation. I suppose I was brave before it, because it was scary! I can’t wait for the Share a Dream Ball now on November 28. That will be great!” she said.
