White commends funding allocations for Kilkenny projects

TD Mary White has commended the funding allocations to projects in Kilkenny awarded by Minister John Gormley.
The Environment Minister awarded the funding through the Local Agenda 21 Environmental Partnership fund.
The projects that received the allocations varied from educational projects to environmental projects.
Some €100 went the School Book Exchange, €75 went to Coon National Garden Environmental Exhibition, and €1,200 went to Urlingford Tidy Towns whose project is called “The Garden of Happy Hands.”
Some €300 went to the VOICE of Irish Concern for the Environment Ltd, €761 went to the Irish Peat and Conservation Council, €1500 to Future Proof Kilkenny. €1,000 to Future Proof Kilkenny, €1000 to Castlecomer Demesne to Ltd, €150 to Gaelscoil Osrai, €100 to Constructive Waste Company. Natasha Kalves received for her Primary School Workshops which explores sustainable living solutions and An Taisce Kilkenny Association received €405. The total amount of funding allocated by the Green Party Leader was €6,996.
All of the funding allocations are to be matched by Kilkenny County Council.
Commenting on the minister’s allocations, The Green Party deputy leader said, “this funding announcement is great news for the projects in question, which are vital for community well-being and uplift throughout the county. I particularly welcome the education initiatives supported by the funding, the School Book Exchange and the project undertaken by Gaelscoil Osrai.”
The minister also welcomed projects such as Future Proof which does great work on promoting awareness of climate change and the need to tackle it.
