This Saturday, November 21, The Young Irish Film Makers are hosting a film festival in the Parade Tower from 2pm to 4pm.

The festival is being organised for young people in Rapid areas in the entire south-east region as well as for a group from Limerick. It aims to give the youths a chance to showcase the films they created with the help of youth leaders.

The festival is the result of an outreach programme undertaken by the Young Irish Film Makers, to train workers and leaders responsible for running youth programmes in Rapid and other disadvantaged areas in all aspects of youth film making and digital production skills.

Angela Barrett of The Young Irish Film Makers said the programme has been a great success and they are hoping to bring it to a national level if funding can be raised.

Awards will be presented by Mayor Malcolm Noonan on the day and the festival will be opened by the artistic director of the Young Irish Film Makers, Mike Kelly.
