Visitor restrictions at St Luke’s to combat swine flu
Strict visitor restrictions are in place in St Luke’s General Hospital for Carlow/Kilkenny, in an effort to protect patients and staff and prevent further spread of swine flu.
Members of the public are asked not to visit the hospital unless it is absolutely necessary. Visiting times are restricted to 7.30pm – 8.30pm in St Luke’s Hospital and only one visitor is allowed per patient, with strictly no children permitted.
Visitors are asked to respect the restricted visiting times and the hospital security staff, who are ensuring adherence to the restrictions.
Visitors are also advised that they must use the Spirigel (alcohol gel) supplied as they enter and leave the hospital.
Anne Slattery, general manager, St Luke’s, thanked the public for co-operating with the restricted visiting times and appealed to people to refrain from visiting the hospital or any healthcare facility particularly if visitors have any signs or symptoms of the flu.
Remember, you can get information about the swine flu vaccine from your GP, from the automated HSE flu line 1800 94 11 00, from the HSE infoline at 1850 24 1850, or from www.swineflu.ie
