Kilkenny chamber Voucher, a gift for all this Christmas

Kilkenny Advertiser, November 13, 2009.

By Kate O’ Neill

This year, when shopping for Christmas gifts, it is important to keep local businesses to the forefront of your mind.

Kilkenny has a great reputation for crafts and tourism, restaurants, hotels and shopping, among other things, and what better way to spread this wonderful reputation among families and friends than the Kilkenny Chamber Shopping Voucher

Alison McGrath, Kilkenny Chamber CEO is asking people to encourage friends and family to come to Kilkenny by giving them the gift of a Kilkenny Chamber voucher.

“Any business can give a non cash gift to an employee up to €250 in value without any PAYE or PRSI impact,” she said. “Companies ought to consider the voucher as the ideal way of keeping the money that it has generated in Kilkenny.”

Kilkenny Chamber introduced the Kilkenny Shopping Voucher Scheme in 2008 and vouchers are on sale through the chamber office or through St Canice’s Kilkenny Credit Union.

€20,000 worth of vouchers was sold in the run up to Christmas last year and every penny was spent in Kilkenny. With the current climate we need to support our own and keep our business in Kilkenny, therefore keeping Kilkenny in business. Vouchers are available in €20 and €50 denominations, presented in a professional pouch and a list of participating outlets is included. They can be redeemed in more than 40 locations throughout the city and county.

Participating outlets are easy to recognise as they have a sticker in their window showing their membership of the scheme.

There is no cost to purchase the vouchers so call in to the chamber in the Maltings or to St. Canice’s Kilkenny Credit Union and support your local businesses.
