Galway will join cities like Budapest, Frankfurt, Edinburgh, and Vienna in the tradition of hosting a Christmas market this December, as the Mayor of Galway has now thrown his support behind the idea.

Mayor of Galway councillor Michael J Crowe said this week that he was “now fully supportive” of the Christmas market, following a successful conclusion to the on-going discussions which have taken place over the last two weeks between him, the Galway City Business Association, and Market Place Europe.

John Concannon might be running a global company but it wasn’t always that way. Through persistence, pushing through the fear and thinking the impossible, he took risks, learned from them and moved on.

The JFC Manufacturing story began in 1987 after Concannon had spent 17 years working on his father’s farm. Feeding cattle was a labour-intensive job and he saw an opportunity to try his hand at entrepreneurship.

’Andy train for Andorra match

Iarnród Éireann has announced travel arrangements for the Ireland v Andorra football international on Tuesday next September 7at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin.

There will be a special train returning to Galway after the match departing Dublin Heuston Station at 23.05hrs (11.05pm). This train also serves Athenry and Ballinasloe Stations.
