One hundred not out

Across the channel Niamh Fahey’s significance to the Arsenal cause offers encouragement. The Gunners enterprising Ladies team recently brought their unbeaten record to a staggering 100 league games in five years when cruising past Leeds Carnegie by 4-0. That contest also included a delightful goal from Fahey, who is briskly becoming a favourite with the north London club.

Though Noel King’s Republic of Ireland side were beaten in glacial conditions by Iceland in a UEFA Championships qualifier play off last week, it is pleasing to see Fahey demonstrate her class on a suitable canvas in the FA Women’s Premier League.
