The Galway minor footballers took themselves, their families, their management team and their supporters on a roller-coaster ride last Sunday afternoon in one of the most astonishing games of Gaelic football you will ever see at inter-county level.
The score-line of Cork 3-15 Galway 5-08 gives some indication of the helter-skelter nature of the contest, but it only tells part of the story.
Clarenbridge GAA Club, in conjunction with rhe Clarenbridge Oyster Festival 2010, is hosting a fund-raising raffle. First prize is one year’s membership for two adults in the Kingfisher Leisure Club, valued €1,000; second prize is holiday vouchers, valued €600; and third prize is two All-Ireland football tickets. The draw will take place in the oyster festival marquee on Friday September 10. Tickets €5 each or book of five for €20. Tickets can be purchased from all club officers.
Galwegians RFC season kicks off with rugby for all on Saturday (September 4) at Crowley Park.
The club has organised a Festival of Tag Rugby for everyone who is keen to stretch muscles and throw a ball around, and will include youth and senior players, coaches and anyone on the sideline.
