Style Isle

Thu, Nov 08, 2012

November is upon us and doing a wardrobe clear out is not just limited to spring. Treating arthritis with Chinese medicine

Thu, Nov 08, 2012

A number of recent scientific studies have found evidence of the effectiveness of acupuncture and Chinese medicine in the treatment of arthritis. These natural therapies may provide pain relief and improve function for people with arthritis.

In Western medicine arthritis is defined as an inflammatory condition of the joints that is characterised by pain, swelling, heat, redness, and limitation of movement. However, in Chinese medicine, arthritis is not just inflammation and heat. For example, it can be caused by a prior invasion of coldness that damaged the body, causing obstruction in the natural flow of both chi and blood which then manifests as heat. So treatment includes both the cause and manifestation of the disease.

I have not bought a winter coat yet and I have been on the lookout for a timeless piece, in a classic shape to work with my entire wardrobe. Meeting these requirements is not exactly easy — it needs to be the right length for my height, be cut in a way that flatters my shape and in a colour that is versatile.
