"STYLISTICALLY PERCHED between classic U2 and The Killers, State Lights songs are made for radio." So said Golden Plec about the rising Irish band who are playing Monroe's Live.
The Killers' comparison is apt as State Lights latest single, “Peace Will Come” was mixed by Mark Needham, who has worked with Brandon Flowers' band. The video features images of contemporary political discourse; pictures of Martin Luther King, David Bowie, and Bono (hence the U2 comparison ), and concludes with images of actors Liam Cunningham and Patrick Bergin, rugby player Gary Ringrose, artist Guggi, chef Kevin Thornton, and The Academic's Craig Fitzgerald holding banners saying, 'Peace Will Come'.
Jim Carroll of The Irish Times said State Lights - Shobsy (vocals ), Joe Regan (guitar ), Paul Ridgeway (drums ), Noel Perry (bass ) - "already have a sound which is aiming for stadiums and arenas". They play Monroe’s on Friday April 27 at 8pm. Tickets are €7.50 from www.monroes.ie and www.ticketweb.ie
