My Fellow Sponges set to 'blur lines between gig and theatre'

Galway band to present Fuzzy Air at 2018 Galway Theatre Festival

MUSICIANS, WRITERS, performance artists, jugglers, videographers, animators, conductors, designers, and all kinds of doers, will partake in a genre defying ‘live music video’ experience, as part of the 2018 Galway Theatre Festival.

This is Fuzzy Air, a "celebration of chance, openness and improvisation" to "blur the lines between gig and theatre", which will be staged in An Taibhdhearc, Middle Street, from Saturday May 5 to Monday 7, at 7.30pm.

The project is the brainchild of Galway band My Fellow Sponges - Anna Mullarkey, Donal McConnon, David Shaughnessy, and Sam Wright - and follows on from a similar music/theatre experiment carried out in 2015 for Cúirt. Joining the band will be juggler Alex Alisson; performers Victoria McCormack and James Riordan; shadow puppetry by Joanna McGlynn; visuals and animations by Marta Barcikowska; Alain Halimi, leader of experimental project Mayfly To The Moon, will be conducting live improvisations; and production design by Róisín Stack. The director is Emma O'Grady.

Tickets are €12/8 from www.alwaytheatrefestival.com
