The 'utterly original' Paul Currie comes to the Róisín Dubh

Belfast comedian is 'like watching the Monty Python version of stand up'

HE HAS performed with a monkey he keeps in a suitcase, he is known to have a rubber duck about his person, his comedy rarely involves him uttering a word. Perhaps because he has Cats In My Mouth.

Paul Currie, the Belfast based comedian, one of the most original acts to hit the comedy scene in years, brings his new show, Cats In My Mouth, to the Róisín Dubh on Friday April 20 at 8pm.

Currie's combination of puppetry, mime, slapstick, sketch comedy, surrealism, and theatre (of the absurd ), filtered through an imagination that revels in oddity, nonsense, and wildness, has seen him push the rules of stand-up to their extremes, and rightfully earned him high praise from critics. The Skinny has called him "unique and utterly original"; FringeGuru.com said watching him was "like watching the Monty Python version of stand up"; and best of all, InformedEdinburgh.co.uk declared Currie "can only be described as what would happen if Tim Burton created Mr Bean”.

In a review of Cats In My Mouth, Shortcom.co.uk said: "This show has one of the few things in life, that without any hyperbole, had me almost crying laughing...a completely wonderful time that had everyone from teens to fifty-year-olds in stitches."

Tickets are available from www.roisindubh.net; the Ticket Desk at OMG Zhivago, Shop Street; and The Róisín Dubh.
