On April 19 the IGNITE Youth Gospel Choir will begin its journey.
“I’ve been thinking about a youth choir for many years now and I’ve been approached by many parents that love the music the adult IGNITE Gospel choir sings to start a youth choir, and now I feel I can give it the time it deserves,” said Keara Sheeran, director of the IGNITE Gospel choir.
Young people from the age of 10 upward are welcome to join. There is no audition, but attention will be paid to each person's singing ability. There will be three terms in the year, with a break in the summer. It will cost €5 per child per week, with rehearsals running on Thursday afternoons from 4.30pm to 5.45pm in St Joseph’s Church, Presentation Road.
“The music we will look at will be uplifting, encouraging, and empowering. There will be movement and expression, and overall it will be a fun experience," Ms Sheeran said.
Parents are encouraged to get involved in the running of the choir as well.
“I’m hoping for a choir of about 50 singers, there will be so many wonderful opportunities to perform and sing for the community. Registration is open now, and places will be limited so it would be good to get in touch before April 16.”
