Live rugby and great food choices for St Patrick’s Day at SALT

SALT Restaurant & Bar in Salthill is pulling out all the stops for St Patrick’s Day with several menus running throughout the day and all the live rugby action on SALT’s new screens.

With the Championship in the bag and the Irish team now setting their sights on the Grand Slam on Saturday, SALT has installed two new televisions in the downstairs bar ensuring customers can watch all the live rugby action while enjoying mouthwatering food and drinks.

On Saturday, SALT will serve breakfast from 9am to 11.45am, with lunch from 12 noon to 6pm. An extended version of the SALT Light Bites menu will run from 12 noon right through to 10pm, and of course dinner will be served from 6pm to 10pm. In addition, there will be a barbecue outside SALT on St Patrick’s Day (weather permitting ) from 12 noon to 6pm, serving traditional Irish street food — but with a SALT twist.

The same menus will operate throughout Sunday and again, the barbecue will be fired up from 12 noon to 6pm. True to form, SALT will also have a selection of St Patrick's Day cocktails to whet the appetite.

On St Patrick’s Day, Salthill will be a hive of activity as the inaugural Family Fun Day takes place in the seaside village. On the streets, there will be live entertainment, a circus skills workshop, face painting, and lots more. There will also be a special free guest appearance at 5pm by the brilliant Trad on the Prom group. A road closure will be in place on the day from 12 noon to 6pm from Seapoint to The Galleon at Monksfield and traffic diversions will be in place.

Back in SALT, rugby fans will be well looked after with the Italy v Scotland game at 12.30pm, Ireland v England at 2.45pm, and Wales v France at 5pm.

There will also be live music throughout the weekend at SALT beginning this evening (Thursday ), with the John Conneely Trio performing from 8pm. On Friday, Saturday, and Sunday night, there will be live music from 8pm and of course, the regular jazz brunch slot on Sunday at 1pm.
