Walking conditions under bridge in Roscam are ‘hazardous’ says Nevin

The footpath which runs along the ‘Old Dublin Road’ in Roscam needs an upgrade as it is “a hazard” and on some sections there is no path at all.

This is the view of Fine Gael Galway City East candidate Barra Nevin. He said many people are using this route as a walkway and it is to be encouraged.

He is calling on the Galway City Council and Iarnród Éireann to co-operate on this issue.

“Healthy living is such an important aspect of life nowadays that an amenity such as this should be enhanced,” said Mr Nevin. “However, on some sections there is not a raised path and this needs to be improved.”

He also pointed out that there is no path at all under the bridge and because of the mud and debris, pedestrians have to walk under the centre of the bridge. “This is highly dangerous and needs to be addressed,” he said.

Mr Nevin is calling for the debris to be cleared and a path put in under the bridge as soon as possible.

“With longer evenings advancing,” he said, “it is important people in Roscam should feel safe walking this route.”
