Acclaimed uilleann piper for Monroe's Live

Jarlath Henderson and his band to play Dominick Street venue in February

HE LEARNED uilleann pipes from Lunasa's Brian Vallely; is a three times All-­­Ireland Champion piper, and is the only Irishman to have won the BBC Young Folk Musician of the Year Award.

He is Jarlath Henderson, and the County Armagh traditional Irish musician, who, along with his band - Hamish Napier (keyboards, flute ), Innes Watson (fiddle, guitar ), Duncan Lyall (double bass ), Andrea Gobbi (sampling, sequencing ) - play Monroe’s Live on Friday February 23 at 8pm.

Henderson's debut album Hearts Broken, Heads Turned was released in 2016. The Guardian called it "a handsome traditional album". His second album is due out later this year. A qualified doctor, the artist is renowned for his skill and ability on the uilleann pipes and whistles, but he is also a gifted vocalist. He has performed with The Transatlantic Sessions, Jack Bruce, Lau, Capercaillie, Paddy Keenan, Salsa Celtica, Michael McGoldrick, Cara Dillon Band, Cathy Jordan, and Mick Daly.
