Sound Of The Sirens 'celestial voices' come to Galway

Exeter duo to play Róisín Dubh this weekend

SOUND OF The Sirens, the English duo whose music straddles folk, indie, and pop, and who Acoustic magazine described as "two celestial voices weaving over acoustic guitars", play Galway this weekend.

Sound Of The Sirens - Exeter based Abbe Martin and Hannah Wood - play the Róisín Dubh on Sunday January 28 at 8pm. The duo released their debut album, For All Our Sins, last May, with R2 magazine calling it a “stunning debut collection”.

“We work well together,” says Abbe. "We have fun and a shared vision of what we want our music to do and how we want it to influence people. Music moves people and can help people overcome adversity. As performers we have a responsibility to write music that will impact and not offend." Hannah contends the duo can be "quite inventive in our writing, using different text games to create a stimulus from which to write". She adds: "We definitely put our emotion into our music and publicly vent. We often put a positive spin on the sadness that life can bring, finding strength in doing so and hopefully helping others to deal with the same issues.”

They duo have also been championed by broadcasters Aled Jones, Chris Evans, and Jeremy Vine, who declared them “a revelation” after seeing them live. They have played the Isle of Wight Festival and supported Rick Astley on his UK arena tour.

Tickets are €8 and includes free admission to John Conneely Inc afterwards.
