Cúirt New Writing Prize deadline nears

THE DEADLINE for The Cúirt New Writing Prize is Thursday January 25 at 5pm. The categories are poetry and short stories with a €500 cash prize for the winner of each category and the opportunity to read at Cúirt 2018.

The poet Jane Clarke will judge the poetry categories, while Lisa Coen, co-founder of Tramp Press, will judge short stories. Poetry entries must consist of three poems under 50 lines each, while short stories are limited to 2,000 words. Entries in both English and Irish are welcome. Those submitting work should not have had a collection published in the category in which they enter (excluding single poems, stories, or chapbooks ). The Young Cúirt youth strand of the prize is for ages 12 to 17. The winner will receive €100 cash prize and will read at the Cúirt Labs next April.
