Scythian to play Monroe’s Live

US Celtic-rock/Gypsy-folk band return to Galway

THE SCYTHIANS were a group of Iranian people and Eurasian nomads who inhabited the western and central Eurasian steppes from the 9th to the 1st centuries BC. Scythian is also the name of a US roots-rock band.

The Scythians - Alexander, Danylo, and Larissa Fedoryka, with Josef Crosby and Tim Hepburn and Larissa Fedoryka - have been called a Celtic rock band but their sound also incorporates elements of Jewish klezmer and Gypsy folk, and there is an emphasis on danceable rhythms. They perform on fiddle, mandolin, cello, guitars, and drums. Their latest album, Jump At The Sun is available on iTunes.

Scythian play Monroe’s Live on Saturday November 11 at 8pm. Tickets are €10 from www.monroes.ie or on the door.
