Amazing Agadir

Holidays to Agadir are well suited to couples and groups of friends looking for a fun getaway in the sun, while the resort is also a really good choice for an imaginative family beach holiday. Agadir enjoys sunshine throughout the year and is a great choice for a winter sun holiday.

Direct flights from Ireland, and just a 30 minute ride from the airport following the flight, make Agadir incredibly accessible and travel-friendly. Getting around the city itself is no trouble — a local taxi costing just a few euro will take you wherever you wish to go.

Agadir's beach is fabulous. A vast, broad, stretch of golden sands that extends for around 10km forming one of the world's most beautiful bays. The glittering Atlantic waters play host to many fun water sport activities, while inland you can enjoy golf, beach buggy rides, and traditional camel rides. A wander around the vibrant Suq al-Had spice market is a must.

With its wide palm-lined avenues, stylish boutiques, pretty cafés, and laid-back atmosphere, you could be forgiven for sometimes thinking you are in Europe rather than Africa on your Agadir holiday. Almonds, argan oil, couscous, hand-made breads, seafood, meat dishes with a variety of vegetables and spices — this lavish mix of Arabic, Andalusian, Berber, and Mediterranean influences will warm your stomach and your soul.

A perfect destination for golfers, Agadir takes pride in its three exquisite, 18-hole golf courses, and one nine-hole course, some offering courtesy bus services from some hotel receptions.

Traditional Morocco is never far away. The ancient walled city of Taroudant is just a short drive east, while magnificent Marrakech is just a two and a half hour drive away. Nature enthusiasts will love the nearby Massa Lagoon, the country's largest bird reserve. A drive north up the coast will take you to bohemian Essaouira, where Jimi Hendrix penned 'Castles Made of Sand'.

For a spot of culture on your beach break in Agadir be sure to visit the ancient ruins of the Kasbah, which is about a 20 minute stroll from the city. It could once house 300 people, and dwellings and traces of what was once an imposing fortress can still be made out. From the Kasbah ruins, sweeping panoramic views of Agadir can be enjoyed, so bring your camera.
