Craughwell wheelchair athlete Shauna Bocquet enjoyed brilliant success at the England Age Group Championships in Bedford recently.

Widely considered to be the pinnacle of athletics competitions in these islands across all disciplines and abilities, Shauna put in a magnificent series of performances to come away with the championship titles in three of the four events in which she took part.

She won the 100m in a time of 19.40, the 400m in 1:06.64, and the 1500m in 4:23.71, and also took silver in the 200m in 34.41

Juvenile Athletics resumes

Galway City Harriers Juvenile Membership is open for any new members who wish to join the club from September to December 2017. Athletes must be at least seven years of age. Training resumes on Sunday (September 10 ) at 10.30am at Dangan Track in NUIG, and there will be a meeting for all interested parents in Dangan pavilion that morning. Clarinbridge Oyster Marathon

The second edition Clarinbridge Oyster festival series of races takes place on Saturday. Three races, the Clarinbridge Oyster Marathon, half marathon and 10km will take place on the Kilcornan Estate in the heart of the village.The course consists of 5km loops on a mixture of a newly surfaced forest trail and the estate avenue which is tarred.

Race packs will be available for collection both on Friday and on race day from early morning.

Marathon start time is 8am, half marathon 9.30am, and the 10km is 10.30am.
