Over The Edge Writers’ Gathering June 2017

THE WRITER June Caldwell launches her debut short story collection, Room Little Darker, at the Over The Edge Writers’ Gathering, which takes place next week in the Kitchen Café of the Galway City Museum.

The event takes place on Thursday June 29 at 8pm and will also see readings by poets Anne Tannam, Karen J McDonnell, and Eamonn Lynskey, and short story writer Maeve Mulrennan.

June Caldwell worked for many years as a freelance journalist and now writes fiction. Room Little Darker was published by New Island Books in May. Her short story ‘SOMAT’ was published in the award-winning anthology The Long Gaze Back, and was chosen as a ‘favourite’ by The Sunday Times. She has won the Moth International Short Story Prize and has been shortlisted for numerous awards.

Karen J McDonnell won the 2014 WOW Poetry Award and was runner up in the 2015 Wild Atlantic Words and the 2015 Baffle poetry competitions. She was shortlisted for the 2017 Poems for Patience Award. Her debut collection of poems, This Little World, is published by Doire Press.

Maeve Mulrennan is the head of visual art and education in the Galway Arts Centre. In 2008 she founded Red Bird Youth Collective, which is now a youth led art collective working in visual art, architecture, animation, and film. Her fiction has been published in several online journals.

Eamonn Lynskey’s poetry has been published in magazines and journals since the 1980s. His third collection of poetry, It’s Time, is published by Salmon Poetry. A spoken word artist, Anne Tannam's second poetry collection, Tides Shifting Across My Sitting Room Floor, is out now from Salmon Poetry.
