Full round of club

The 2017 county senior football championship is back in full swing this weekend with a full round of fixtures.

Following last weekend's big win by Galway over Mayo there should be a good crowd at some of the games and especially venues where county players will be in action.

There is an attractive double-header in Kenny Park on Saturday with St James, who will have Paul Conroy in their ranks, and Caherlistrane in action at 5.15pm, followed bySalthill-Knocknacarra with Séan Armstrong up front taking on Tuam Stars at 7pm.

Also on Saturday there are two games down for decision in Pearse Stadium.

Cortoon Shamrocks and Killanin are in action at 5.30pm and county champions Corofin take on Paul Clancy's Maigh Cuilinn at 7.15pm.

In those two club games, supporters will see current county players Johnny Heaney, Bernard Power, Cathal Sweeney, Liam Silke, Gary Sice, David Wynne, Michael Farragher, Gareth Bradshaw and Michael Lundy up close and personal in their club jerseys.

In Tuam Stadium on Saturday (7pm ) there is another attractive game that could see Annaghdown's Damien Comer and Mountbellew-Moylough's Michael Daly cross paths.

Mountbellew are seen as one of the teams that could really put it up to Corofin this year, and it will be interesting to see how they do against Annaghdown, who gave Killererin an awful pasting the first day out.

There are four senior games down for decision on Sunday too - a double header in Pearse Stadium featuring Barna and Micheál Breathnachs (5.30pm ), followed by Leitír Móir vMonivea-Abbey (7.15pm ) which should attract a reasonable crowd.
